OKENSI JEWELLERY CARE

HOW DO I

CARE FOR MY OKENSI JEWELLERY?

  • To keep your Okensi jewellery in good condition, I suggest storing it in the dust bag provided with the jewellery, this will keep it dry and will reduce the likelihood of any tarnishing/ discolouring.
  • OKENSI jewellery is made to last but pieces that are not handled with care for example, excessive dropping, excessive pulling, harsh chemicals or improper transport / storage are more likely to show wear and potential damage over time.
  • You can protect the layer of gold plating and extend it's shine by periodically cleaning each piece and avoiding substances that aren’t PH neutral.
  • Avoid exposing your jewellery to excessive humidity or sunlight.
  • Avoid bathing in freshwater, sea water and chlorinated water with your jewellery on.
  • Avoid spraying perfumes or applying creams directly to the jewellery. Even if you’re sure your jewellery hasn’t been exposed to any of the aforementioned substances, it has been in contact with your skin—which does perspire.

CARE FOR MY OKENSI BEADED JEWELLERY?

  • To clean the beads, wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth to enhance the luster.
  • For a more thorough cleaning, use a damp cloth or sponge with a little bit of mild dish soap.
  • For beads that are exceptionally dirty, soak them in warm water in a small bowl with a small amount of gentle dish soap.
  • You may scrub them with a very soft toothbrush. Do not use anything abrasive as this may wear down the surface and cause scratching.
  • Once cleaned wipe off the soap with a damp cloth and leave the beads to dry naturally.

CARE FOR MY OKENSI ROPE JEWELLERY?

  • Please do not get the jewellery wet. If it does get wet, squeeze out excess water and allow it to dry naturally.
  • For light marks on rope just use warm water, soap and a soft brush, squeeze out excess water using kitchen towel and allow it to dry naturally.

CARE FOR MY OKENSI LEATHER JEWELLERY?

  • Please do not get the jewellery wet.  If it does get wet, remove, reshape if needed and leave to dry naturally.  Do not put on top of a radiator nor use a hairdryer
  • Please also avoid getting perfumes, sun oils, lotions and chemical on the jewellery as these  will cause damage./'
  • To clean your jewellery, do so gently, by hand using a soft cloth with a tiny amount of neutral shoe polish for the leather.  Avoid getting the polish on the threads.
  • As a natural material, never store leather in plastic as it requires ventilation to prevent the growth of mildew and bacteria. Always store your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight.

CARE FOR MY OKENSI METAL JEWELLERY?

  • Please expect some natural tarnishing over time with wear.To reduce the effect of wear, gently wipe jewellery of any traces of oils from your skin with soft polishing cloth and store in a dry place.
  • Apply some mild soap to accumulated dirt, rub it to take out the dirt, wipe of any excess residue and store in a dry place.  Protect jewellery from abrasive surfaces and harsh chemicals and please be mindful of wearing makeup near jewellery or of getting your plated metal piece wet.
