THESE BOLD, EXCITING, COLORFUL LUXURY JEWELLERY, ACCESSORIES, AND TEXTILES ARE INSPIRED BY THE RICH, VIBRANT CULTURE OF GHANA.

Although my family moved to the UK when I was 8 years old, and we didn’t have too many opportunities to visit Ghana, the culture has been an important part of my upbringing because my parents kept the culture alive for us.

My Grandmother was a bead trader, and my mum also makes beaded jewellery and she has been a huge source of inspiration for me. Jewellery making was my first passion, and I love incorporating beads into everything I do, including the art and accessories which developed as I tapped into my multi-passionate creativity.

The majority of the beads I use come from Ghana, and my mum keeps me well stocked from her travels as well as beads from her own personal collection… some of which date back to her grandmother's times.

The beads I use are sourced mainly from Ghana and from my Mums personal collection, whilst the leather and materials for the textile art are sourced in the UK. The components/findings for the jewelry are handcrafted in London.

Everything is produced in small batches to maintain quality and uniqueness and minimize waste. Additionally we use sustainable packaging, to ensure that you can enjoy luxury and sustainability.

My mission is to connect and celebrate the vibrancy, beauty, brilliance, culture, and positive energy of the African continent, through exquisite and unique pieces which uplift, elevate and bring the joy of color into your everyday life.

IF WE WERE SITTING DOWN TOGETHER, I MIGHT TELL YOU ABOUT HOW OKENSI DESIGNS WAS BORN OUT OF THE URGE AND NEED TO CREATE.

When my boys were babies, I stopped working in the fashion design industry but I couldn’t stop creating. I needed an outlet.

I had a small space so decided to just play with some beads I had from the last time I went to Ghana. At first, I was just making jewellery for myself.

I wanted to create pieces with an alternative edge that were different from what was in the shop. I set about to create pieces that stood out and looked at Africa with a fresh lens.

When I wore my creations, people started asking where they could get their own.
